Serving the Arts, Humanities, and Interpretive Sciences
Welcome to the Medfield Cultural Council, a non-profit Local Cultural Council (LCC) that works in cooperation with the Mass. Cultural Council. LCCs are run by appointed volunteers who support local cultural needs by awarding grants. This funding is provided by the Mass. Cultural Council and can be supplemented with other donations. The Town of Medfield is an equal sponsor, supporting the Medfield Cultural Council.
Grants may be awarded for school field trips, afterschool programs, concerts, festivals, lectures, theater, dance, music, and film. LCC projects take place in schools, community centers, libraries, elder care facilities, parks, and other available places in the town.
The LCC program was established in 1982 and was overseen by the Mass. Arts Lottery Council until 1990. It then merged with the Mass. Council on Arts and Humanities to form the Mass. Cultural Council. There are 329 LCCs in Massachusetts that form an extensive grassroots system of public support for community cultural programs. Collectively, these Councils fund thousands of cultural activities in all 351 cities and towns in the state.
“The Medfield Cultural Council is a program supported in part by the Massachusetts Cultural Council, a state agency.”
