The first Annual Derbyfest will be held at the Dwight-Derby House on October 21st from 4:00-6:00. We are very excited about this new venue. This year there will be a beer tasting, by 7th Wave Brewing, that will take place on our terrace (weather permitting) which will be accompanied by complementing snacks.
7th Wave Brewing set up shop in the old stitchery building off route 27 in Medfield this last June. They have a wide range of exciting brews available including Two Turtles Double IPA, Rte 27 Pale Ale, Clamshell Extra Special Bitter, Bill Hill All Night Session and Barn Door Farmhouse Rye Saison. They plan to produce a brew in honor of George Horatio Derby who was an occupant of the Dwight-Derby House from 1823-1844 and America’s first satirical writer. This special brew will be available in another month or so. A portion of the proceeds, from every bottle sold, will support the restoration and preservation of the Dwight-Derby House.
The Dwight-Derby House Shoppe will be open and packed full of items created by the Dwight-Derby House Artist. These artists paint and create every Tuesday night at the Dwight-Derby House. The Shoppe also carries many Medfield items such as wine glasses, mugs, ornaments and coasters.
There will also be the Dwight and Derby Exhibits to satisfy your curiosity and introduce you to the most significant families that occupy the house.
All attendees will have the opportunity to experience the abeyance and historic character of the house and property. It is truly an enchanting place. Short tours will take place every fifteen minutes if you choose to take part.
All this for $5 for each adult. This is a rain or shine event since we can utilize the house for inclement weather. To purchase a ticket please email firstname.lastname@example.org or call 508-359-7264.
